Switch It Up

Words of wisdom from Robin Turner, Phone Smart call center manager.**Welcome to the Phone Smart call center blog and insider look at the self-storage industry Do you ever wonder why your co-worker gets better results than you do? Do they bring in more sales than you do? Do they have a better rapport with their customers than you do? Most likely it’s because they’ve “switched it up”. If you know the basics of your job (or sales presentation), and you notice that it seems to be getting stale or doesn’t seem to be profiting you much, then maybe it’s time to “switch it up”. Try something new. Use a new greeting, a new closing question, and a new rapport building statement. Switch it up until you find something that works for you. What might work for someone else, may not work for you. For instance, the word “Typically” may not work for you. Maybe the word “usually” works best for you. Sharing a joke with your customer may work, depending on the customer, or you may not be the “funny/humorous” type. Maybe you are more of the sincere/listener type. Take advantage of your skills and put them to use. Take advice from others around you, or secret shop your competitors and listen for good ideas. What you hear someone else doing, may not work for you personally, but maybe it’ll give you an idea of a different way to handle varied situations.
