Real Estate Agent VS. Apartment Leasing Agent
Real Estate Agent VS. Apartment Leasing Agent

Welcome the PhoneSmart property management blog, where we offer an insider view of the self-storage and property management industry.
Have you ever gone to view an apartment or a home? What was the experience like when the leasing agent showed you the home? Now, most Real Estate Agents are pretty good, although their are a few out there that could use some work. But I think they have more of an incentive to work harder, as they get a large commission if the house is sold.
However, when it comes to apartment leasing agents, it just dosn’t seem that they have much of an incentive to sell sometimes. The Real Estate Agent will ususally tell you all about the property, showing you from room to room. They can tell you how old the home is, what schools are nearby and give you a detailed list of each and every amenity that the home has to offer.
In my experience apartment leasing agents don’t go as far to do the above. Some even simply give you the key to check out the apartment yourself. Some will bring you to the apartment and let you in, leaving you to look around yourself. If you get a good agent, they can tell you a little bit about it, such as how many bathrooms and bedrooms it has. But as far as giving you detail-to-detail amenities, forget it.
Just think how well you would do, if you could learn how to work as hard as the Real Estate Agent. Maybe you don’t get commissions for each apartment rented, but wouldn’t it make you feel better? Wouldn’t you be a better property manager?
