Property Management Wine Storage
Property Management Wine Storage
- Recently I was given an assignment to write about wine storage; I did not know there was such a thing. Since I was clueless about wine storage I begged StorageMart property management for some help. Property management was great; she told me all there was to know about wine storage. For instance, wine storage is climate controlled at 55 degrees Fahrenheit with 60 percent humidity and low light exposure. Each renters wine storage unit is individually locked in private vaults. These are the perfect condition that any wine guru will recommend. Unlike Vodka and whisky, wine is a perishable good. There is insufficient alcohol in wine to keep it well preserved. However, when I asked my wine storage property management expert on how many wine storage customers she has, her answer was zero. I couldn’t believe it. This self storage property has this huge storage space for wine storage and not one bottle of wine sits in the vault. So, I began an investigation. I wanted to know why StorageMart, the king of self storage, did not have one wine storage customer at this one self storage property. As far as I could tell it is the only one in town. My first suspicion brought me to the public. I approached a friend of mine, a wine guru or a wine connoisseur if you will, if he ever had used wine storage at a self storage business. He looked at me as if I was out of my mind. It turns out my wine guru friend has never heard of wine storage at a self storage business. He thought I was kidding and it took a lot of time and a trip to the internet to convince him. But he was only one person; I needed to ask another wine expert. While I was out to dinner with my wife last weekend, we ordered our usual bottle of wine. As the waiter brought out the bottle, showed me the label and poured a tasteful in my glass, I asked him if the restaurant uses self storage wine storage. He returned the same strange look my friend gave me as I tasted the wine as if I was some kind of wine connoisseur. I didn’t find any flaws with the wine, not that I could. The waiter told me that he did not think they did but he would ask the manager. He left and shortly returned with the manager who also gave me that strange look as if I was some crazy self storage guru. The manager and the waiter never heard of such a thing as wine storage at a self storage property. I was surprised given that one exists right across the street. The moral of the story is if you don’t advertise your services, customers will not know they exist. It is up to property management to get the word out. Don’t expect self storage customers to know all about the different services self storage offers. The word needs to get out those services, such as wine storage, car storage , classic car storage, and boat storage exists. It is up to property management to market these different services to local businesses and the public.
