  • Today I’m getting settled into Las Vegas for the self storage association’s fall meeting. I’m staying in a Westin because they have the heavenly bed. I’m really not joking about that. One of the things that is always a challenge when you’re on the road is to find a good bed to sleep in. Everyone on the road complains about being away from their comfy bed, so Westin has me hooked on its promotion. It also doesn’t hurt that they give you extra points in their points program. So now you know how I choose a hotel property. Hw do other people choose hotel properties? What promotions work? Which promotions draw in which people? It would be interesting when the hospitality industry people meet to take notes of which of their point programs work and what promotions work. This is not only true just for hotels but for other rental property. So many operators are attempting to lure tenants with amenities. There is an art to matching your tenant profile and matching amenities to your property, so that you are offering realistic amenities to people who are likely to be your tenants. How do you handle the amenities strategy?
